PLC x Capri Holdings Limited is a 5-week, In-person masterclass where students work in teams on a project to create a luxury brand and collection of accessories and footwear. Students experience what it is like working at a brand while developing their time management, professionalism, and leadership skills. Through the guidance and mentorship from PLC staff and Capri Holdings mentors, they build the skills needed to excel in any internship or apprenticeship.
My team's inspiration brand was Michael Kors. As the Color & Material Designer for our new brand, I created 3 color stories based on our conceptualized consumer, curated color palettes, developed material palettes with a sustainable point-of-view, and ensured our brand ethos and design language were conveyed properly.
We named our new brand EMBER – which stands for Embracing Multiculturalism, Belonging, Equality, and Respect, and like an ember, which remains glowing after a fire has died down, we want our brand to stand the test of time amidst ever-changing trends and seasons.
INFO
Conceptualized consumer – Lenyx Lansana, a non-binary, indie-rock/neo-soul artist born in Atlanta, GA, whose family is from Sierra Leone, a country in West Africa.
In this moodboard, I wanted to highlight differences in Lenyx’s life in Atlanta, which is more upbeat and fast paced, and their life in Sierra Leone, which is more relaxed and serene.
Color Story 1 – HOME.
Inspired by Lenyx’s life in Sierra Leone – her community, the food, and her feelings while there.
Color Story 2 – NOW & LATER.
Inspired by Lenyx’s hit single and the nostalgia and memories she refers to in the song. Her memories are sweet and sometimes sour like the Now & Later candy.
Color Story 3 – DOWNTOWN.
Inspired by Lenyx’s life in Downtown Atlanta where she currently lives. I wanted highlight the bright colors and futuristic, fast paced environments.
